I’ve been thinking about going to this famous “under the bridge” spot for a while now. The beacon or the blinking light TransAmerica Pyramid is turned on, on the national Independence Day, & it couldnt be a better opportunity.
Initially, I just planned to unwind that day, but since the internet suddenly buzzed with firework photography, I couldnt resist staying home. Got me all pumped up. I texted +Kenji Yamamura to meetup for some fireworks shows at Treasure Island & see what we could do come up with. Reaching almost 3 hours ago, I started scouting some good places & even climbed over the concrete walls to get the best possible shot.
On my way, I met Jim, another fellow enthusiast young photographer, who wanted to take the exact same shot. After agreeing to stay together on the trail, incase anyone of us needs help, we started walking on the tarmac, by the very edge, against the traffic! Unfortunately for me, he chickend out half way, when the hike showed up. But with sheer determination, i kept hiking.
This place is not for a the faint of heart (and stamina). There are mosquitos, crickets & possibly snakes, with soft slippery terrain. But, I eventually made it, & to my surprise found a few more folks chilling out there, like on a beach. hehe. Settled down & got this beauty.
Single shot, no HDR/tonemappting.
