My goat yard has stumps throughout the yard for the goats to play on, but In October, the mushrooms seem to enjoy the stumps much more than the goats.

    Stunning shot!

  • Thank you. My yard, with lots of stumps, mud, and rain is a haven for mushrooms in October!

instant favorite of these Mycena! I’ve seen so few this year since it’s been so dry and hot in Kansas it’s such a treat to see others able to see them….especially this species! If you get a chance and are willing….break one at the stem and see if it ‘bleeds’……….

  • Thanks for the info, I will have to try that little trick and see if they do indeed bleed. I have many different species in my yard, but don’t know what most of them are called, so I’m glad you can tell me. It has been dry here too, so we don’t seem to have nearly as many as usual for this time of year—but I doubt it will stay dry too much longer.
