part of wilde’s hard labour at reading goal was that a prisoner had to have crockery and cutlery situated on a table at millimetre precision. it is suggested that this affected Wilde for the rest of his life, still carrying out the obsession until his death.

  • ragman replied

Thanks Lolo | I’ve been informed | I’ll use that

Two hundred and ONE… and this has been mine.
The reason… curiosity…. crreeping our heart into the intimacy of the moment.
Need to “know” what is there laying on the table,
the perfect displaying of dishes and cutlery..
the symbolic presence of the reading….
    A solitary table,
    for a solitary man.
    Served by a solitary woman…
    so many hours waiting for
    this moment.
Rosa (thanks a lot for your kind visit and comments….so glad)

Another haunting image. I spent a long time looking at it and I can taste boiled ham with white sauce and cabbage just looking at it! It’s the paper that needs ironing not the tablecloth.
