SHINING LIGHT ~ Annie Lennox
Roman candles that burn in the night
Yeah, you are a shining light
You lit a torch in the infinite
Yeah, you are a shining light
Yeah, you light up my life
You’ve always been a thorn in their side
But to me you’re a shining light
You arrive and the night is alive
Yeah, you are a shining light
Yeah, you light up my life
We made our connection
A full on chemical reaction
Brought by dark divine intervention
Yeah, you are a shining light
A constellation once seen
Over Royal David’s city
An epiphany you burn so pretty
Yeah, you are a shining light
You are a force, you are a constant source
Yeah you are a shining light
Incandescent in the darkest night
Yeah you are shining light
My mortal blood I would sacrifice
For you are a shining light
Sovereign bride of the infinite
Yeah, you are a shining light
Yeah, you light up my life
We made our connection
A full on chemical reaction
Brought by dark divine intervention
Yeah, you are a shining light
A constellation once seen
Over Royal David’s city
An epiphany you burn so pretty
Yeah, you are a shining light
And these are days you often say
There’s nothing that we can’t do
Beneath a canopy of stars
I’d shed blood for you
The north star in the firmament
You shine the most bright
I’ve seen you draped in an electric veil
Shrouded in celestial light
We made our connection
A full on chemical reaction
Brought by dark divine intervention
Yeah, you are a shining light
A constellation once seen
Over Royal David’s city
An epiphany you burn so pretty
Yeah, you are a shining light
Yeah, you light up my life
Yeah, you are a shining light
Yeah, you light up my life

right away, it isnt the easiest to discern that the focus of this photograph is a chair, due to the way the light is shining on it. you can only really see the seat, the legs, and the shine off the of the arm of the chair, as well as the slight outline. But because the light is so bright and is broken into rays because of the obstruction in the window, the eye almost wants to just look into the light, to see what is sitting in the window. Then, at the same time, you have these faded silhouettes of other pieces of furniture to the right of the beam of light, which also draw your attention thanks to curiosity. but the angle of the chair is set perfectly, showing enough so that you can figure out what it is, and hiding enough so that you have to keep looking.

Another winner for me !

Ian James
Nice shot I like they way you have controlled the exposure in this shot to capture the light streaming through the window.
ragman replied
Thnak you Ian, it is an image which I will treasure forever, and one of my ‘Eighteen Visions’
this was captured on B/W negative fim originally and I went back to the place a week or so ago, and it had totally changed as they had moved the furniture
Michael Oubridge
“What light through yonder window breaks”. Shakespeare himself must have seen this very vision. Amazing
ragman replied
But soft, what light through yonder window breaks?
It is the east, and Juliet is the sun.
Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon,
Who is already sick and pale with grief
That thou, her maid, art far more fair than she.
Romeo in Romeo and Juliet Act Two if I can remember !
... but this windows prettier than the Verona Balcony I was at last year
Michael Oubridge
You are right on both counts :)
ragman replied
Thanks Michael for communicating ~ while you’re please look around and let me know about other theatrical nuances buried in some of my images
Audrey Evans

Fossdos
I love this haunting image. I love all your images actually but this one is like a portrait of someone who didn’t turn up. A person that once was in a place that once was.
ragman replied
thank you; I believe you have read that just right ~ couldn’t have put it better myself
Fossdos
Now my mind is trying to picture what the person who didn’t front up may have looked like. It’s either someone very very young or very very old but not in between.
ragman
someone very very old would be accurate
Fossdos
Someone perhaps who lived in that cottage in its original location before it was dismantled & reassembled in Cultra. The reason they aren’t in the chair might be because either the chair doesn’t belong to the original cottage or it has been put in the wrong place or wrong room. Like the old adage…every picture tells a story…but your images tell really good ones.
ragman replied
Probably the chair was not from the original cottage ‘in situ’
ragman replied
I’ve been back to the cottage most recently, and the chair has been moved
Fossdos
That explains it. That poor old ghost has nowhere to sit.
Adam Spence
Wonderful tones, very nice!
