right away, it isnt the easiest to discern that the focus of this photograph is a chair, due to the way the light is shining on it. you can only really see the seat, the legs, and the shine off the of the arm of the chair, as well as the slight outline. But because the light is so bright and is broken into rays because of the obstruction in the window, the eye almost wants to just look into the light, to see what is sitting in the window. Then, at the same time, you have these faded silhouettes of other pieces of furniture to the right of the beam of light, which also draw your attention thanks to curiosity. but the angle of the chair is set perfectly, showing enough so that you can figure out what it is, and hiding enough so that you have to keep looking.

ragman in reply to Ian James’s comment, 3 months ago
Thnak you Ian, it is an image which I will treasure forever, and one of my ‘Eighteen Visions’
this was captured on B/W negative fim originally and I went back to the place a week or so ago, and it had totally changed as they had moved the furniture
Michael Oubridge, 3 months ago
“What light through yonder window breaks”. Shakespeare himself must have seen this very vision. Amazing
ragman in reply to Michael Oubridge’s comment, 3 months ago
But soft, what light through yonder window breaks?
It is the east, and Juliet is the sun.
Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon,
Who is already sick and pale with grief
That thou, her maid, art far more fair than she.
Romeo in Romeo and Juliet Act Two if I can remember !
... but this windows prettier than the Verona Balcony I was at last year
Michael Oubridge, 3 months ago
You are right on both counts :)
ragman in reply to Michael Oubridge’s comment, 3 months ago
Thanks Michael for communicating ~ while you’re please look around and let me know about other theatrical nuances buried in some of my images
