Jennifer Johnson
wonderfull … so there was no touch up to this ??? it is great i love it..
RachelJayne replied
Jennifer, thank you for your comment! This is a beautiful spot to visit and there is hardly anywhere in Colorado where you can not take a lovely photo… but to answer your question, I adjusted the brightness and contrast on this and warmed up the sand some what. :) I had just gotten my camera and didnt know a thing about photography when I took this, so it needed a little help when I got better at editing. Things I could have done manually on the camera if I had known more about how to operate it.
RachelJayne
Which is why you should always read over your camera manual every once in a while… the instructions start to make more sense ;)
Jennifer Johnson
that is funny cause it took me a long time to figure out why i couldent take pics at night… they still arent that good but reading the manual helped a little…i love what you did with this photo…very nice..

Not to mention that sand got into zipped pockets that were never opened.. we were so glad we did not take our video equipment out of the trunk of the car. My camera made grinding noises for a couple weeks… no damage though!

Nice shot….I have been many times, summer is the worse if you want to hike to the top…blistering hot sand. In the spring and early summer the Medano Creek runs through the dunes creating a wonder land for children. We have sand castle building competitions and many enjoy flying kites out there. A wonderful area to visit and photograph. Check out my page for a few more shots.
RachelJayne replied
Thank you Jody, i looked up the exif data on this to get the date and it was taken May 16th. I think it was just a very dry year. They were having alot of problems with wildfires that year… we were in Falcon and watching a storm over the Springs. There was no rain but plenty of lightning… then smoke from where the lightning had struck and started fires. Alot of virga but nothing for the ground.
I would LOVE to visit the dunes when the water is running through so I will check with you next time we come out to see how it is doing :)

Thank you Karen, it is hard to get a perspective of size in this photo… they are very very large sand dunes. I wish some of my other photos of this area had turned out as well, haha. Oh well. Thank you for the comment!!!
