When i was a wee lass i would lay on my back on my Grandparents porch at dusk and wait for the bats to fly over… There were thousands of them and it went on forever. I loved the silhouettes and the colour of the sky behind them as the sun set. I stayed there until the last few bats flew across and they all disappeared. It was a really happy time for me as a child, just watching everything fly past. There was nothing to worry about, everything was beautiful and calm while i laid there.
Sittin’ in the mornin’ sun
I’ll be sittin’ when the evenin’ come
Watching the ships roll in
And then I watch ’em roll away again, yeah
I’m sittin’ on the dock of the bay
Watching the tide roll away
Ooo, I’m just sittin’ on the dock of the bay
So this is my other something different comp entry. I’ve never designed anything from a childhood memory, this is one of my few ‘cleaner’ shirts, and i feel like its a lot more feminine and delicate than everything else i usually do. Plus ive never done anything with bats on it – but i’ve found a sweet PD image that im going to kick around for a little while.
