Outer wall of the reconstructed Roman fortress of Saalberg. It was reconstructed in the 19th century on the original foundations as it appeared in about the 2nd century AD. In the fog you can just about hear the ghosts of poor roman conscripts bitching about the damp, the cold, the food, and everything else.

Thank you for the feature. Haven’t been on for a while, getting new computer up and running. I’ll put a couple more from Saalberg up. It is a fascinating site.
