Spend much time in these establishments for research Jim?
Very nice work. You’ll have to show us more in a journal entry when the book comes out.

  • Well, I’ll probably add a few more of these as the days go by and i was thinking I may do a calendar with them here on the bubble at some point.
… and no, unfortunately I haven’t set foot in any of the 100 or so pubs there are in Hastings, all were from old photographs, dammit!

  • Cheers Shanina, I don’t know about the Force, the last few days have been more of a Farce. Getting there slowly but surely: )

Hope you have a bit of time up your sleeve, actually it would make it quite interesting to visit each pub before you work on it…or maybe not lol!

  • Oh, in an ideal world…

    Excellent pen and ink drawing.
You are brave to use ink, as there is no scope for mistakes!

  • Thanks Colin. I use a combination of traditional pen and dip ink, technical pens and a brush occasionally. It all depends on what part of the illustration I’m doing at the time: )

Interesting info. The lines are beautifully straight. Which is something I can’t do in my paintings very well, as my hands shake too much!
