years ago in my youth, like all military guys, playboy magazine was a favorite.
but what i really loved were the Vargas artwork pieces. it inspired me to try to emulate the portraits. this is one of the few sketches i have left from that period in my life. i probably drew several dozen over a two year period, but generally i just gave them away.
i often wonder if they are still kept by those i gave them to. i remember one specifically i gave to a young engaged japanese couple.

I didn’t have access to Playboy, since I was infantry in Viet Nam.
All we saw were blackened teeth men and women in those villages.
You should try your hand at drawing again.
This one is really excellent! (BTW, everyone on the bubble tells me to draw again, too)

Lovely sketch. Do you still draw? If not it would be nice to see some recent drawings; you have a beautiful talent!

it has been a long time since i drew portraits. most of my sketching is now doodles and such. the time investment it takes for the portraits is something i don’t have much of these days., perhaps when i retire i can get back to it.
thank you so much for your thoughts and compliments glenda,
