Luster
I hope love finds you too :)
Luster belongs to the following groups:
All Out Emotion, All Things Poetic, Artistic, Philosophical, Melbourne & Victoria and WMGA changing of the guard,
My soul’s protectors.
Long they have stood,
Brave but now weary.
The new incumbents are battle hardened yet youthful in perception.
These will guide me now; these will shine the light upon a new path.
The stains of the past have left my soul shy and wary of joy and its rewards,
The new guards are equipped with soul cleaning agents and set about their task with much vigor.
They talk amongst themselves about the scars and stains they are tending to.
Hope is their tone, wonder their timbre.
I listen intently, the way a child listens to their parents when they are not supposed to.
My soul has never shined; I’m not sure if it should but as the guards finish their chore with a gentle polish I feel a slight luster beginning to emerge.
Luster.
The guards take a step back to admire their work.
They’ve done well.
Better than expected.
I thank them for their effort and cradle this new soul.
Well, not new but a soul with a luster of redemption.
I tell the guards that I’m happy that they arrived earlier than I had anticipated.
They tell me that I had sent orders unknowingly…
“By your own admission, you called for a change. You embraced the future and you accepted your fate. By your own free will, we raise a shield to the past and shed light on tomorrow.”
The guards stand tall and surround my soul.
I feel safe,
I feel hope,
For I have seen tomorrows luster today.

... but they were perfect for me today … for I have a friend here who needed to hear what you had to say, who has changed his life and is looking for positive good tomorrows and who having heard me read this to him has sighed in relief and gone out with renewed strength and determination to face the world awaiting him!
