Stunning photo, maybe my favourite of your excellent gallery. Thanks for the nice comment you left on mine! Can I ask you a thing? Many of your shots look like HDR images but I guess it’s only an effect you like to give with postprocessing, right? Anyway, very cool and personal style!

Well, I read some comments and I realized that they actually are HDR (even though not only, if I’m not wrong). Good work!!!

Tooooo right! HDR is just one step along the road to a final visual destination. Neating, clarifying, airbrushing, contrasting and softing all play a role along the way, what percentage i use of each depends on my mood and the image in front of me! I’m telling you i can spend hours apon hours working on one shot! Thanks heaps for your comments lightseeker!!! :D:D:D

Added this to my favorites as it is just stunning and I know how much work must be involved in it as I used to do simular work (not as good though) with my slides in the darkroom.

Paul, I love this image. I grew up in Echuca and am familiar with the railway lines. My father ran the cement depot there in the 70’s. The depot was on the line.

Hello Paul, That is nice work, and love the train. Was that your way of say’n H1. Yesterday was another amazing day. I had gone to take pictures of the (old train trussel) wooden bridge. Shortly after getting there, the train was headed towards me. I got the shot, right before it passed. At the time my camera was displaying my shot, the conducter leans out his window and throws me bottle of water. I missed him, and he missed me, but it was one of those moments! Thats great, to be choosen 4 world photography. I am so not worthy. Thanks for adding your take, for us to be inspired.n Darrell

Love the industrialness in this and the fact that there is no human feeling in it, thus making the train look as if its alive on its own operating independently, sends a cold fact airy message that machines do not need humans anymore in the not so distant future.

What can I add that haven’t been written before, all I can say is that this image is just fantastic with superb colors, composition and perspective. This is by far one of the best locomotive images I’ve seen. an immediate favorite for me.

You are spot on, it was difficult to breathe. I had been on a walking trail for about 4 – 5 hours before I hit this particular railyard and I was spent! Vision was pretty difficult in some lower parts of the terrain but higher up things were ok. I was just lucky to capture this just before it departed!

This really shows how a well composed shot of an interesting subject can, with the right effects, become so much more. This is just another reason I need to get editing software. Most of my work is more on the documentary side of photography, but I’d like to get a bit artsy and learn how to manipulate my photos and play with different effects to make them stand out a bit more.
