This oil painting was commissioned by a friend for his father. My friends grandfather worked on the MTB 102 when it was de commissioned in 1945 and converted into a private pleasure boat.

This amazing boat has a very exclusive history, she was the first ever modern Motor torpedo boat- the prototype of all the MTB`s which served in WW2.

She was the fastest vessel in the Royal navy at 41 knots fully laden with two 21 in Mark V111*E torpedo’s, intended for submarine use.

She was one of the celebrated Dunkirk `little ships` and managed approx eight journeys from Dunkirk carrying our rescued soldiers.

She carried both British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and the American General Eisenhower, as they reviewed the gathered D-Day fleet ready to re-take Europe from the Nazi`s.

The painting is on a Daler Rowney board 24×18in. Daler Rowney and Windsor Newton oil paints used.
White balance and original picture cropped to size on photoshop.

I re submitted a clearer and larger image from the original one as i felt the colours were slightly off.
