I think doing self portraits is a great learning curve Lee. Not only do you get more familiar with your settings in a quiet time but you also learn a lot of what it is you expect from someone else on the other side. I did quite a few also in the early stages mainly because I am a cheap and always available model lol….........plus I tend to get excited by a concept and sometimes want to run with it straight away and cant wait to tee someone up at short notice. Yay for you, this is lovely:)

Your eyes and eyebrows are to-die-for!
It’s like you’re not trying to look seductive but you can’t help it because you were born with the eyes for it! So perfect it’s like someone has painted this. I’ll happily model for you if you make me look this good! :)

Hehe Lee, thats awesome. In saying all that, if you ever get to Adelaide, you can come model for me anytime. I prefer to shoot others but some of the things I want people to do is crazy and not the most comfortable, so I jump on in. Why oh why would YOU need models when you look like that, you keep doing them self portraits, I adore them. You project a lot of emotion with them and sometimes another person cant capture that as well. Put on your favourite music and get that timer going Lee:):)

Also one more thing on the self portraits…sometimes I also do them because, as you can see from my gallery, I tend to cut off a lot of valued body parts ie: heads etc and I dont want to offend my models by saying, hey, I only want to shoot your bottom half LOL:)

    Thanks Paul!! :-)

Hey Leia You can come model for me ANY time!! :-D And thank you for your kind words!

Kim Hahaha SO true about the faceless images! I don’t think they’d take too kindly to that! lol
It is fun putting some tunes on and setting the timer but, as you’d know, can be frustrating and restricting! However when you get good results.. it’s so worth it! =)
And thank you for the massive compliment..

Striking portrait Lee, and all these comments above really hit the nail on the head already.

There’s something about working in black and white that makes an image leap off the page.
Doesn’t always come off, but in this case it works a treat!

    Say cheese!
    Leith.

I’m the same way Sue, 7 yrs here, but it helps with poses and lighting to practice on ourselves, I have been doing portraits for some time now and couldn’t even begin to guess how much farther along I am by using myself as a model, This is top rate, I love the pose, lighting, and your eyes are amazing!!
