Fire Plane by Samantha Higgs

This ‘Fire Plane’ is at Greenham Common near Newbury, in Berkshire, England. It was used to train troops in fire procedure. During the cold war the common was an American airbase. In 1992 the base was closed and the common restored. The wide diversity of plant and wildlife on the common has led to much of the site being designated a site of special scientific interest.

    Excellent work Samantha.

  • Thank you. I really like this shot, Greenham common is a beautiful place now but it has a strange abandoned feeling to it, I felt the fire plane summed that up well.
