Collage inspired by these lines from “Spring” by Gerard Manly Hopkins:
“The glassy peartree leaves and blooms, they brush The descending blue; that blue is all in a rush With richness..”
blue, bird, poem, ink, japan, collage, blossom, spring, mount, manly, fuji, stamp, swallow, hopkins, gerard
i really like how you’ve done this… and how you’ve been inspired. the white areas remind me of trees, a high hedge, snow… beautiful stuff!
“trees, a high hedge, snow” it’s lovely to hear what you see TBO, thanks so much.
certainly is a rich blue…ooo I must get out the paints!
I find that inks (Dr Ph Martin’s are the best but expensive and hard to find) give me the most intensity, they just seem to be a lot more saturated than paints… but a lot trickier to control!
and lovely paper to soak it up…what are you using?
Some scrummy hand made recycled cotton rag from South India- Khadi papers- they have a web-site too www.khadi.com. I’m a sucker for a deckle edge.
You and spring go hand in hand Rebecca, beautiful and creative work, lovely.
I really am a pagan Earth worshipper Sylvia, but it only becomes super obvious in Spring! Thanks for your ongoing loveliness.
this is so lovely!
WOW. That is amazing. And I love the little homage to Japan in the stamp.Spring does interesting things to us, huh?
Thanks Melanie- I found a whole packet of the oh so lovely Japanese stamps in an op shop for $1.50- bargain I say!
over in my other lighter persona soxyfleming I actually make paper, though not from rag, maybe I should try that….she starts thinking…..perhaps I should post you a piece to play with!
Ah… a dual personality! How did I miss that? I’d be honoured to recieve a piece of your paper!
What a wonderful piece! I love the contrast between the intense blue ink and white paper – very nicely balanced collage elements!
beautiful piece again hehe
