Unkept moments, unrestrained happenings, all surprises completely unexpected
I never thought, didn’t even comprehend I could feel this way again
You stepped out of the unknown and into my life
Apparently my self resurfaced, right at the time you entered my world.
I’m still cautious, holding back, but why?
What do I have to be so fearful of?
To trust again, to love again, to completely expose my soul again….
I’m ready, as ready as I’ll ever be….. are you?
You who stand against your protective fence,
Guarding the door, constantly checking for the lock
I sense it, I know it to be true.
But I’m falling for you.
In a drunken stupor, yet vividly clear, I said those three voodoo words,
I said what I wanted to hear back, but you didn’t.
You stood like a solider against the metal vault of your being
You checked the lock twice, made sure it was secure,
It was written all over your face, like a sheet of glass fell between us
You standing on one side, me on the other
We both see each other, want the complete deal
But wont let each other totally in, still hit the glass
Hit the glass, every time we reach for something more.
How long will the transparent sheet hang silently in the middle?
I’m realizing, its just suspended in mid air, I can reach you if you let me
All I have to do , is step around to the other side,
Step one step forward. Stand next to you with open arms.
I’m here, I believe in you,
I trust you. I respect you. And by the way….
I love you.
