( 63 ) Would Love to Get ya'lls help on something

Hello, everyone

Today I got news from a art gallery director I talked to on twitter.. and there gallery is called…... Galerie St.George in New York ….I asked them to take a look at my work I have here on red bubble and they did and would now like me to send them 10 of my best images to them and they are going to put them up on there site !
I guess first thing I would like to ask ya’ll is has anyone heard of this gallery in NewYork , Here is there link and they have there address on there ….http://www.galeriestgeorge.com…... Maybe there is someone on here from NewYork that can tell me
so I guess what I am wanting to know is should I trust them or not ?
now he has only asked for the image to be 800 by 600 with 72dpi and no bigger then that

To The Heart Of The Matter

And then my next question is ..I would love ya’lls input on which images ya’ll think I should send ? This is my first time in doing something like this and I want to make sure that what I send will be what a gallery would want to promote and best shows my work as well !

Thank you so very much in advance to all that can give me any help on both of these things!!

Trying not to get to excited until I know for sure they are indeed who they say they are ! =D =D

Happy Shooting , Carla

Carla, I have to agree with Chuck. Get as much info as possible. This is what I found out for you on AOL. Apparently, as you’ll see in part II, they auction off your work. This just doesn’t sound kosher to me. Just a thought here, why don’t you do what Katagram does and see if there is a local shop that features a differenent artist every month & try to get your work in. Go to Katagram page and you’ll see what she’s doing. Just trying to help.

    About Galerie St. George

Galerie St. George (“GSG”) was founded in July, 2007 by photographer Gary Brant. GSG opened its doors as a cooperative artists gallery on September 20th, 2008 with the work of Portuguese sculptor George Pissarro, and has since expanded to include both local New York City and international artists working in a wide variety of mediums and styles.

Our spacious facilities include both a main gallery, gallery annex, video theatre and an expansive sculpture garden on the grounds of a historic landmark 1885 Victorian estate built by 19th century industrialist Anson Phelps-Stokes. A 10-minute walk from the Staten Island Ferry, GSG is conveniently accessible from all of New York City’s five boroughs.

Galerie St. George is working with young, emerging artists both in America and in the U.K., Europe and Australia.

In July, 2009, GSG announced the appointment of directors both in England and in Australia in order to develop emerging artists’ careers in each and build their audience in America.

GSG also just introduced a new program “Discovery”, which is bringing forward new and little-known artists whose work deserves attention.

Galerie St. Geoge is located at: 11 Phelps Place, Staten Island, New York 10301 USA, and is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. or by appointment. We welcome your call at anytime: 718.390.0130 or on SKYPE: “galstg” for further information.

I totally agree with Teri above. There are to many negatives for me. To many chances for reproduction’s of your art and no mones to you.

  • Carla Jensen replied

Many Thanks …FlowersEtc!!for replying and giving your take on this as well! That was the one thing I am worried about with this whole thing ..is if this gallery isn’t on the up and up ..and your right they could reproduce my work and sell it over and over and how would I know if or how many they have sold with out being there in person and hand delivering each already printed and framed piece myself ! Ya’ll are so right there are so many negatives about this ..expectationly when dealing with giving them a digital file of your image instead of the finished product! Ya’ll have been a great help to me with this ! The more I talk about it and see what others have to say , its not looking to good at all !

Happy Shooting and Thanks , Carla
