“Painting Nature with the Camera”www.camerapaint.com
My name is Paul Traudt and I live in the Adirondacks (New York). I have been shooting, hiking, painting(oil) and exploring for over 18 years. Without any formal training, I have been published in “Adirondack Life” magazine,Adirondack Life post cards to promote the Adirondack Life website,Paul Smith’s college Alumni paper “The Sequel”,and my work is being sold at Northway piano and guitar, Sweet Basil Restaurant rte 9 Lake George NY (60 shots hanging for sale sizes 8×10 on up to 24×36, ,chosen to be in the juried exhibition ” Adirondack state of mind” at Larac Gallery, 6 Pine street gallery with a solo show of paintings and photograghy in Glens Falls NY , Elements of Art Gallery at Cooper and Lawrence troy shirt factory(http://www.elementsofartny.com/) and much of my work is in private collection. I insist that I get the shot with the camera. I feel if it isn’t on film then in the garbage it goes.I can’t tell you how many times people refer to my photograghs as paintings in the restaurant, probably the best compliment I could ever recieve. I use 1 Sony A700, 1 sony A100, 2 Minolta 800si bodies, 170-500mm, 70-300mm, 2 105mm 1:1 macros, 28-80mm(2) ,1 18mm-50mm, 2x converter and extension tubes for macro and the ability to focus closer to my subjects with the 500mm all of which are Sigma lenses, manfrotto tripods, ball heads (macro) and a number of homemade tools to cover all situations. It seems you can never have enough equipment to cover it all in nature.
