In Loving Memory

Of those we lost…

This work possibly has more significance than any other image I’ve ever created..

I completed and originally posted it on another website back on September 11th 2006. 5 years after the horrific 9/11 attacks in which 2,976 innocent victims lost their lives.

Even in 2009, deaths are still being directly attributed to 9/11.

All profits from sales of this card will be donated to Families of September 11

One by Creed

Affirmative may be justified
Take from one give to another
The goal is to be unified
Take my hand be my brother
The payment silenced the masses
Sanctified by oppression
Unity took a backseat
Sliding further into regression

Society blind by color
Why hold down one to raise another
Discrimination now on both sides
Seeds of hate blossom further
The world is heading for mutiny
When all we want is unity
We may rise and fall, but in the end
We meet our fate together

One, oh one,
The only way is one
I feel angry I feel helpless
Want to change the world
I feel violent I feel alone
Don’t try and change my mind

  • Ross Spencer replied

Thank you very much for your comment Larry, I really appreciate it. It is indeed a lot of the emergency services staff that are still dying.. So far, of those 2,976 victims, 411 were Firefighters, Police and EMT’s.

Oh Larry… There is nothing I can say in reply that won’t sound stupid or patronising in some way. You have my utmost respect and heartfelt consideration.

This is a wonderful heart felt tribute to all the people who lost and are still losing their lives due to this terrible event .
Watching it on the TV at the time felt unreal like watching a movie .
I would imagine most people will remember exactly where they where when the news broke ,I know I do.

  • Ross Spencer replied

Thank you so much Irene for your comments, they mean a lot.. I think you’re probably right, I think most people do remember the events of that day very clearly. Even over here in the UK, people were so shocked that everything came to a halt and we just watched on tv listened on the radio…Thank you again.

Nice one Ross. The company I was working for at the time lost 311 employees in this, and I still have (and cherish) the memorial card that was later distributred to every employee.

Several people I knew were caught up in it, including one English lady from our offices in London who only just got down the stairs and out in time. In a panic, I called another colleague to find out if he was ok, remembering after I’d dialled his number that his department had moved a few blocks away only a few months previously. An out of breath, dazed sounding lady lady answered his phone. She was an employee who had escaped and made her way to his office. Bless her, all she could think of was that she’d left her bag behind! Realising that I shouldn’t be on the phone troubling these guys, I wished her well, told her to look after herself and hung up. I then cried.

I still have trouble holding back the tears now when I think of that day; goodness know how those directly involved must feel, I really can’t begin to imagine.

    Well done Fella.

  • Ross Spencer replied

Thank you so much for your kinds words and for sharing your experiences of that day, Iain. I really appreciate you taking the time to do so .
    My best wishes to you.
