A Collage of Moments
A Collage of Moments belongs to the following groups:
All Things Poetic, Artistic, PhilosophicalIn the moment before you close your eyes to sleep
Who do you long to see?
A man, a woman or a child yet to be born and freed
In the moment you see your image in the mirror
What causes you to flinch and look away?
Is it the eyes of a spy, a liar or unfaithful being struggling to get through another day?
In the moment you discover your ex has moved on
Why do you treat them like a leper, willing them to die?
Is it the growing feelings of betrayal and immense hurt you’ve become too tired to deny?
In the moment when you taste your first kiss
Why does the memory replay the image for the next week?
Is it the sense of achievement or new found sexuality what it actively seeks?
In the moment you meet a person for the first time
How do you assess their individual worth?
Is it by the job that they hold, car that they drive or by estimating their girth?
In the moment the realization strikes that your pants have become too tight
Why do you instantly breathe in?
Is it the continuous media conditioning willing you to be thin?
In the moment before you echo I do
Where do you long to be?
Is it in the arms of a different lover or still wild and free?
In the moment you witness your baby’s first breath
You question the physics of how and where the human body manufactures such joy?
That provides a man and woman with the cherished gift of a healthy girl or boy
In the moment before you address the angry crowd
Who do you wish was by your side?
A soldier, a priest or the real villain, the Chief Executive Officer that lied
In the moment after your house is repossessed
What is still pressing on your mind?
If it wasn’t for the introduction of pokie machines I wouldn’t be in such a bind
In the moment before the doctor informs you of the blood test results,
Where in the brain generates the volumes of such unfounded fear?
Is a little voice telling you best spend up for the time of death is near?
In the moment before you crash the car
Why does time appear to stand still?
Is it because old man fate had already decided upon whom he would like to kill
In the moment after the funeral ends
What makes you focus on the deceased will?
Is it the thoughts of riches, family squabbles or your pile of unpaid bills?
In the moment you realize your life has been an endless dream
Why do you breathe a sigh of relief?
Is it the joy of escaping the horrors within, which lie and churn beneath?
Live in this moment
At this moment
For the right moment is now

Profound words! I am amazed and delighted! I see myself in your words! And the fabric that weaves together the plight and fancy of the human condition here on this planet.

Jen, thank you for taking the time to comment. It is refreshing to know that someone other than your wife and closest friends appreciate your work!! : )
