I don’t understand the word compassion, what does she mean?
Hmmm, well it can have many meanings to different people but I always broke it down into two words
“Compass and passion” which is ironically contained within the word itself
Simply put a person who has compassion has the moral compass and passion to assist others
Does that make it any clearer?

Not to worry son, how about you go ask your mum what the word “menopause” means
I’m sure she should be overly familiar with that term

Mum could explain what menopause meant quite simply
She actually used the same method you had used to explain compassion
I don’t quite follow you son
Well, she asked me remember how your father never does anything I ask and if he does he is very slow to do so
This is because he suffers from menopause
See, if you break down menopause into two words you find the answer
“Men and pause”
Mum says that this is why all men are slow because they are constantly pausing
She thinks this is probably because they are trying to remember to breath
