Not to mention a very long list of vilifying words and their reactions to follow so long I would crash RedBubble’s servers trying to upload them.
As a nation we have developed the idea that being aware of stereotypes and dangers and race issues will help us to be more sensitive to it and ensure that we will not offend anyone who falls into one of these categories.
This is wrong…
I grew up in Cornwall and a friend of mine from a different province came to see me. He had no idea that racial tension between the Indians (North American Aboriginals for those of you about to freak out about the word Indian). I of course was the ever present walking-talking-encyclopedia that had to ensure he was informed. Because I told him about the racial tensions he stammered, stuttered and made an ass of himself when he met one of my Indian buddies. It took me half an hour to talk them out of kicking his face in.
He had no idea there was a problem until I told him there was…so…
To you OVER-CHRISTIANIZED-NAZI-FUNDAMENTALIST-IDIOTS on RedBubble going around trying to tell people there’s a problem with their art and making the admins take it down, I have this to tell you.
I don’t care what color you are, how old you are, what language you speak or what deity you believe in…if you try to tell people how to live, you are evil. If you think you have the only right answer, you are stupid. If you get a single piece of my artwork banned or another piece of art from a single person I know on this network again, I will personally hack your IP addresses and hand them out to a few hackers I know who delight in deleting people’s RRSPs, bank account, credit cards and putting out warrants for their arrest – erasing the fact they even exist once they’ve been put in jail so that they get lost in the system and then publish a list of your names and home addresses through an anonymous friend of mine on 4Chan so they can see if yoru families get the joke you missed.

nah, its an investment portfolio that has no paper trail except a record you keep at home, that they won’t accept at the bank unless their electronic records match it

Helen Bascom had an image deleted on Redbubble because it had a picture of a naked dead baby. Someone thought it porngraphic. I thought it was a valid statement, and wonder at the ban.
On the wiping bank records. I worked for the largest bank in the country for ten years. If you wiped every bank record, it would be back up in half an hour. It is not that easy to wipe a computer system. Everything is held on backup servers, and a hard copy of everything exists….. It takes more than one person to open a door in a bank, so how many do you think it takes to get into a security system ????

Freedom of Speech is great. Everybody in America has that right. They have the right to complain and bitch and belly-ache about every little detail that is wrong with society and the world around them. It gives people the feeling that they can do anything. Don’t get me wrong, people should have that feeling, but it gets carried away too far sometimes.
Yes, we have the freedom to say whatever we want, but there are some things called respect, courtesy, and politeness. And people have always forgotten these things through the decades. And that’s why things get out of hand with certain groups. They believe so strongly in an ideal that it over powers any sense of decency.
And once something is brought against the collective paradigm, people have the instinct to destroy that threat. And that happens every single day when a piece of work shows something that goes against that paradigm. So people do whatever they think they can to make sure that piece of work is destroyed.
Look at what people did when the statue of David came to America. They rebelled and threatened to destroy it for showing off such “naughtiness”. I’ve always thought of an ideal of “if you don’t like it, don’t look.” Nobody holds a gun to another person’s head and forces them to look at things. If you don’t like something, you don’t have to look at it.
Websites like RedBubble and DeviantArt are meant for people to show off their collective works. Its for artists to show off their own thought processes, their own imaginings. Artists are always plagued about how their art will be reacted upon and to have something you’ve worked so hard on is censored or banned, that’s pretty much a banning of your own mind.
I may have gone sporadic, and for that I apologize. But my point is this: People do whatever they can to make sure that something they find “displeasing” is “cleansed”. Whether it be race, religion, or thinking. And freedom of speech, with all the help that it has done, also has those small bits of a draw-back that help others destroy thought.

i find do gooders offensive, lets ban them.
This is the second time i,ve heard of so called offensive images being pulled from redbubble, i haven’t seen the image in question but i know the first one MEAT by Morphix certainly didn’t offend me.
Maybe a site dedicated to so called offensive art is the anwser, i know having to hold back on what i let in to my pieces is starting to do my head in.
maybe Redbubble needs a separate section for verifyed mature audiences and if the do gooders come sticken there nose in there it’s there own damn fault if they get OFFENDED.
