Hello, My name is Gene. I live in the Susquehanna river valley (West Branch), in the mountains of north central Pennsylvania. I strive to produce photographic images that are simply “true” to the subject, usually with minimal post processing. If something is beautiful or interesting enough to deserve a viewer’s attention, it justifies being captured just as it is …or as close to reality as possible.

So much color! We have had a slew of fine sunsets of late ~ were driving into Buffalo along the Lake Erie waterfront last week & were dazzled by the view out over the water just as the sun went down into it. Or so it seemed. No chance to stop for a photo shoot, though. This is gorgeous, Gene!

  • Thanks, Sheila! I rarely have the chance to shoot sunsets over a body of water horizon ( …they put our ocean on the wrong side). I wish could have seen that sunset on Lake Erie.

For some reason, sunsets seem to become much more interesting to me in late fall. I did a search of all of my photo files, from 2004 on, and found that the vast majority of my sundown photos were shot in the month of November. I guess the leaf-less trees help to allow more of the sky to be visible here in the mountains …that, and darkness arriving before 5pm. Hmmm

    Kindest regards,
