Watching Daffodils Grow in the Rain by

Daffodils were responding beautifully to the warm temperatures and today’s spring showers in Brandon Park. The park bench had been recently repositioned, to allow visitors to get a very closeup view of the flowers in the garden. A few early red tulips were beginning to blend in with the yellow daffodils, to add a little “spice” to the large flower bed.

This photo was captured on Saturday, March 24th 2012, on a warm but rainy afternoon in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, USA. This shot was captured with a Canon EOS 30D DSLR body, fitted with a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L lens. The lens was set to its 31mm focal length. The camera’s shutter speed was 0.6 second, ISO 100. The lens’s aperture was f/14 with a CP filter mounted to control reflections. The camera was securely mounted on a Manfrotto 555 tripod with a 222 “Pistol Grip” head.

This is the same park bench that was featured in my photo titled “Abducted Park Bench” from a couple years ago. This shot was taken in late April, when the tulips were at their peak.

Hello, My name is Gene. I live in the Susquehanna river valley (West Branch), in the mountains of north central Pennsylvania. I strive to produce photographic images that are simply “true” to the subject, usually with minimal post processing. If something is beautiful or interesting enough to deserve a viewer’s attention, it justifies being captured just as it is …or as close to reality as possible.

Congrats on your feature, I could come and sit here all day.

  • Thanks, Jan! It was a bit wet on this rainy day, but it is a really nice place to “sit a spell” …weather permitting.

Wonderful place to sit and enjoy! Wonderful and congratulations on your feature!

  • Thanks a bunch, Glenn! This garden has been wonderfully planned and planted. As soon as the daffodils start to fade away, the tulips shoot up to replace them. There are beautiful new flowers here throughout the entire growing season.

    Best regards,

    – Gene Walls
