Wow …how different Adams Falls looks in winter! A lot of the ice had melted here, but the top of the falls was still locked in winter’s deep freeze. At least the gushing flow had become visible in the lower sections of the falls.
Adams Falls is the only waterfall that can be seen from the road in Ricketts Glen State Park. All of the other falls require at least some hiking to reach them. Ricketts Glen is located along RT-118 in north eastern, Pennsylvania, USA. The nearest town is Red Rock, PA, about half way between Williamsport and Wilkes Barre.
This photo was taken in the late evening of March 2nd, 2011 on a winter hike with Kevin Hart. The image was captured with a Canon EOS 10D DSLR camera, through a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L lens at the 17mm focal length. The shutter speed was .7 sec at f/9.5. The camera’s ISO was set to 200. A light Bilora Super-Biloret tripod was used with a Bogen head.
