Hello, My name is Gene. I live in the Susquehanna river valley (West Branch), in the mountains of north central Pennsylvania. I strive to produce photographic images that are simply “true” to the subject, usually with minimal post processing. If something is beautiful or interesting enough to deserve a viewer’s attention, it justifies being captured just as it is …or as close to reality as possible.

I love these when the light shines on them. Tough for me to take. But you did this beautifully, Gene!

  • Deeply appreciated, Maureen!

The wind was fanning a dogwood branch that was just overhead. That caused the light to change constantly, but I liked what I was seeing in the view finder. I just kept shooting until I was sure that I had gotten at least one photo that looked interesting. I probably took 50 frames to get this one shot. Well worth doing …in digital, anyway.

    Warm wishes,

    Gene

Another grand shot, Gene. You may have said somewhere, but what is the red behind it all?

  • Thank you, Sheila! This is the same blossom that I shot as a bud. The red “bokeh” is from the bright red covered bridge that is just behind this rhododendron bush. The sprig looked so different when that splash of sunlight hit the blossom that I just had to get another shot of it. No special processing on this shot, I just used a wide aperture to put the background out of focus. This is just as it appeared when I pressed the aperture preview button on the camera. I had to shoot a ton of frames to catch the sunlight shining only on a single blossom, though.

    Kindest wishes,

    Gene
