Early Morning Behind The Horse Barn by

An early Sunday morning winter walk revealed this scene behind a snow covered horse barn. This image was captured shortly before the sun had risen above the horizon on the far side of this rural Lycoming County farm.

The lovely farm shown here is located near Clarkstown, Pennsylvania, USA, along Upper Bartlow Road.

This photo was taken with a Canon EOS 10D body fitted with a Canon EF 35-350mm f/3.5-5.6L Zoom lens, at the 63mm focal length. The shutter speed was 1/180th sec at f/8. The camera’s ISO was set to 100.

Hello, My name is Gene. I live in the Susquehanna river valley (West Branch), in the mountains of north central Pennsylvania. I strive to produce photographic images that are simply “true” to the subject, usually with minimal post processing. If something is beautiful or interesting enough to deserve a viewer’s attention, it justifies being captured just as it is …or as close to reality as possible.

Beautiful, Gene :-) I love the feel of this… cold… and still so inviting!

  • Thanks, Maureen! Cold it was… but a good place to be. There were fresh turkey and deer tracks everywhere, but I must have just missed them. Darn!

    All my best,

    Gene

What a lovely, big barn. It really is chilly with the blues.

  • Yea, Kay, it was “bone-chilling”! I was having too much fun to notice, until I tried to change memory cards and my fingers wouldn’t work. LOL!

    Best wishes,

    Gene

Beautiful Gene!!!! That Pa. winter landscape!!!! :)) BTY I’m heading out for Pa. in the morning and hoping no snow comes BEFORE I get there!!!! :))

  • Thanks, Ruth! I think the snow is about done here until Sunday. However, it is very cold here for December, and brutally windy!!! Dress for the cold!

    Have a wonderful visit!

    Best wishes,

I love the natural lighting of the morning sun in this, nice capture! ;>

  • Thanks, the sun was directly behind the big barn (and making it tough to find the right exposure settings). I’m glad you like it, Vivian!

    All the best,

A real beauty. Wish the wind would leave some snow on our trees for future reference…..

  • Wow, that’s so true around here too! I am so glad I got out to shoot before the strong winds blew in! There are destroyed Christmas decorations blowing all over the neighborhood right now.

    All the best,

    Gene

what gorgeous scenery here!! fantastic winter country scene!!

  • Most appreciated, Jan! This was taken before the north west winds began blowing all of the snow off of the tree branches. I’m more of a night owl, but I just had to get out early in the morning to catch some calm snow scenes.

The wind is howling like crazy now! (That’s why I’m staying inside today. LOL)

    Best wishes,

    Gene
