The winter sky was violently displaying a swirling kaleidoscope of pink and purple hues! Mother nature is such a brilliant “painter”. Why did I run out to my front yard and point my lens into the sky and snap this picture? …just because I really liked it!

The photo was shot “hand-held” with a Canon EOS 10D camera using a Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L zoom lens @ 200mm. The shutter speed was 1/180th sec at f/8. The camera’s ISO was set to 200.

Hello, My name is Gene. I live in the Susquehanna river valley (West Branch), in the mountains of north central Pennsylvania. I strive to produce photographic images that are simply “true” to the subject, usually with minimal post processing. If something is beautiful or interesting enough to deserve a viewer’s attention, it justifies being captured just as it is …or as close to reality as possible.

  • Thank you very much, Cora! The surrealistic colors in the sky sent me running for my camera!

I always love sky and cloud shots. The middle shade is so soft and pretty.

  • Thanks, Wanda! I was conflicted about posting this, most people think that “sky shots” are just too ordinary. I am very pleased that you liked it.

    Best regards,

    Gene

    Beautiful, love the colours.

  • Thanks a lot, Joy! The dark clouds were moving in a completely different direction compared to the high ones. It was an eerie sight to see. The colors were really cool, though.

    Best wishes,

    Gene
