Apple Blossoms, Straight From The Camera on May 2, 2009 by

I just captured this shot in my neighbor’s back yard a few minutes ago and I had to upload it immediately! Today has been rainy and sunny intermittently, perfect conditions for some very interesting photographs!

This shot is absolutely “untouched”, still nice and warm from the camera!

This macro photo was captured with a Canon EOS 10D using a Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro prime lens. The shutter speed was 1/180th sec at f/16. The camera’s ISO was set to 400. A Manfrotto tripod was used with a remote shutter release.

Your comments are always welcome! Constructive criticism is appreciated.

Excellent Gene! Glad you don’t have to go up the ladder any more! ;o)
Ours aren’t blooming yet, but I am sure they will be out by the end of the week! Take care, Linda

  • Thanks so much, Linda! You are absolutely correct, no ladder required for this one. lol

Can’t wait to see your apple blossoms!

    Best wishes,

I think I would like your neighbour’s garden Gene, lovely shot :)

  • Thanks! My neighbors have truly “green thumbs”. I shoot the fruits of their labor a frequently as possible. They also just happen to be life-long friends, and that helps a lot!

Beautiful, Gene! I have that lens too but haven’t used it too much yet (got it for Christmas). Your photographs are reminding me to get out and use it some more. I just hate carrying my heavy old tripod around, so I use my other lenses.

Oh and can you please add the “spring” (or date) info and resubmit to Spring Blooms? Thanks, Gene.

  • Thank you, Rachel!

Now, get out that macro lens and put it to good use! I use this model a lot, even more often than my expensive “L” lenses. It really is a wonderful hunk of glass! Besides, tripods aren’t really that much of a hassle, trust me!

    Best wishes,

Well mine weighs six pounds, so it’s kind of heavy and bulky. I’ll take yours, ok? ;-) While I’m at it, might as well take that L glass off your hands too. Hee hee.
