My neighbor’s magnolia tree was in full bloom on a beautiful day last spring. These gorgeous flowers turn brown and wilt within just a few days, so they have to be photographed at just the right time to catch them at their peak of perfection. This one was still flawless!
This photo was taken on April 22nd using a Canon EOS 10D DSLR camera / Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro lens. The exposure was 1/125 sec. at f/8, ISO 100. The camera was mounted on a Bogen monopod with a Manfrotto “Pistol Grip” head. I snapped the shot from a tall stepladder, to get the exact angle I wanted. The monopod was resting on a step of the ladder to prevent any vertical movement of the camera.
