Summer Greenery Graces Delaware Falls by

This is Delaware Falls, as the scene appeared in mid August. This image was captured from a boulder beside the Ganoga Glen Falls Trail. Delaware is located half way between the Seneca and Mohican waterfalls in Ricketts Glen State Park wilderness area.

Ricketts Glen is a large State Park, located in the north eastern region of Pennsylvania, USA. The nearest community to the park is Red Rock, situated at the junction state routes RT-118 and RT-487.

This photo was taken on August 15th, 2013 with a Canon EOS 5D DSLR body, fitted with a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L Zoom lens. The lens was at the 26mm focal length. The camera’s shutter speed was a full 10 seconds at f/8, ISO 100. An ND-8 Neutral Density filter was used on the lens while the camera was mounted on a Manfrotto heavy duty tripod. A remote shutter release cable was used.

Hello, My name is Gene. I live in the Susquehanna river valley (West Branch), in the mountains of north central Pennsylvania. I strive to produce photographic images that are simply “true” to the subject, usually with minimal post processing. If something is beautiful or interesting enough to deserve a viewer’s attention, it justifies being captured just as it is …or as close to reality as possible.

This scene wouldn’t have been QUITE so appealing during the recent cool spell, but today, with temp & humidity rising, it is more than desirable…. Which is not to say that it doesn’t LOOK brilliant at any time. Guess I’ve covered any & all bases there, Gene… & having said all that, this is beautiful. The title is perfect.

  • Thank you most kindly, Sheila! Friday’s weather was perfect for a rugged hike and shoot. There was just enough cloud cover to allow me to wait for the exact light I was looking for. It was my very first hike of the year… and I loved every second of it.

    Best wishes,

    Gene
