Be Still My Soul

Be Still My Soul

Be still, my soul; the Lord is on thy side;
Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain;
Leave to thy God to order and provide;
In every change He faithful will remain.
Be still, my soul: thy best, thy heav’nly Friend
Thro’ thorny ways leads to a joyful end.

Be still, my soul; thy God doth undertake
To guide the future as He has the past.
Thy hope, thy confidence let nothing shake;
All now mysterious shall be bright at last.
Be still, my soul: the waves and wind still know
His voice who ruled them while he dwelt below.

Be still, my soul: the hour is hast’ ning on
When we shall be forevr with the Lord,
When disappointment, grief, and fear are gone.
Sorrow forgot, love’s purest joys restored.
Be still, my soul: when changes and tears are past,
All safe and blessed we shall meet at last.

Written By Katharina von Schlegel, 1752; trans. by Jane Borthwick, 1855 (Ps. 46:10)

This Hymn is like a Salve for me, I sing this Song unto the Lord and while I sing I experience moments of grieving which will continue through my life and be added unto I am assured, but also it reminds me of the strength of the Love I had for those whom have departed from my life brings me still to ponder the power of the Love that was binding us together, and Foremost it gives me a sense of Awesome Arraignment, as I ponder what my God and Savior did with a great and unstoppable Love.

    Be still and know that I am God…
    Often so hard for us humans to do!

  • Jason D. Lader... replied

    Indeed, all too often we forget that we are image bearers without His Sovereign Grace we cannot be still and know. But altogether He knows our need and accomplishes all the we just simply cannot.
    Thanks Garry

    Thank you Laurie, a slight Vignette softened the edges but also made it a bit hazy. Though I wanted that feeling of being dreamy

    Thanks Muscles,
    I am quickly growing weary without my Car when I come across images like this in my collection. Knowing I’m but an hours drive from location of image makes me stir crazy

Hopefully I can get a good deal on another car soon so I can get back out there I really want to snap some winter shots this season so here’s to looking forward to blessings and opportunities
