Day 6 of my trip was telling me that the Northern Rim of the Grand Canyon was not meant to be on that day. My day kept leading me to more and more wonderful and intriguing places than I could have ever read about in a tour book or planned to see, no matter how much planning I did.
These cliffs were a testament to this majestic and isolated place. If I remember correctly, they are located about a 45 minute drive from the City of Page, which is almost at the Arizona/Utah border. These sandstone cliffs form about a 3,000 foot escarpment with many geologic layers formed in a way similar to a layer cake. It is a very remote area with many towering cliffs and deep canyons, with elevations ranging from 3,000 to 6,500 feet.
Approaching this place from a distance, I thought to myself I can easily climb one of those cliffs to capture an overview of the area. Yeah right!!! How naive I was. I will be posting a close-up image (closer-up) of one of these cliffs for an idea of scale.
Hope you like this one.
