Theme : Capture the making of Ganesh idols for the Ganesh Utsav ( Festival ) celebrated in India 7 across the world.
Description : This God of knowledge and the remover of obstacles is also the older son of Lord Shiva. Lord Ganesha is also called Vinayak ( knowledgeable ) or Vighneshwer (God to remove obstacles). He is worshiped, or at least remembered, in the beginning of any auspicious performance for blessings and auspiciousness.
Ganesh utsav ( festival ) is celebrated in India in the month of Bhadrapada ( somewhere between mid August to September ) every year. Festival lasts for 10 days ending on Anant Chaturdashi (fourteenth day of the waxing moon period).
Celebration, rituals and tradition : Making of idols begins from May, for those who make good business it’s li’l more earlier. I had been watching a craftsman’s shop nearby my home for last 3 years and every time I used to think this year I’ll get there. Idols taking shapes, passing through painting and aesthetic processes was every years view. This year finally I made my mind to get there & find some time. This is the second one in the series. Mostly all of them in RAW form & waiting for next step. It was a real opportunity as only option was to have some play of light.
