Shaniwarwada #3
Coming up with a tour to this famous historical icon of my city – Pune.
This time going a bit close, to present Shaniwar Wada with a new perspective.
This is a popular view of this fortress from Delhi darwaja ( Delhi gate ). This gate was named as it has facing towards Delhi, now the national capital of India.
As photography has limited access use of tripod is nit allowed and this shot was taken hand held, manual mode, @ ISO 100, f/16 and Tv 1/13, I just wonder how it didn’t blurred :)
Enjoy the taste of history and art on enlarged view :)
I have reworked this photograph in PS ( 05.03.2009 )
Have a tour of Shaniwar Wada, here.

G’day Prasad,
This is a very strongly composed image of a most interesting and powerful structure which has great impact.
The composition is beautifully symmetrical, the lighting/exposure/processing very well handled,
the depth of field consistent, focus miraculously good and great contrast, tones and colours.
Very good work that man!

Dennis
Prasad replied
Thank you Dennis for your appreciation friend. Now, I can relax and breathe as my efforts to spot this Pride of my city, fruited to find place in your favorites. It was really difficult job with hand held shooting especially when I read 1/60 is best for hand held capture in your misty shots.
I am honored!

Great shot…Thanks for the trip..and some awesome memories…. In 1978, I returned to Calcutta, place of my birth . What a culture shock!! But, I shot only colour slides, no digital at the time! I was repremanded by the police, for taking pictures of the parliment buildings!!!!

Cora Wandel
Prasad, love the angle, it gives the fortress an overwhelming sense. India is a culture so far away from Washington, D.C. and your photographs fascinate me with its looks into this mysterious, foreign land. But on the other hand, your photographs are starting to make me think of India as not all that foreign and mysterious after all. Thank you for providing us your written information on this fortress. – Cora
Prasad replied
Just missed this one, Cora :) I am glad you enjoyed the tour.

Prasad replied
Sure!!! Just infrom me anytime. I read a book on sea forts of Shivaji, in future I’ll go for it. Someone has to take ‘em seriously. It’s our historic asset and has to be presented well. I have been wandering here for a year and many peoples around are presenting their country very proudly. We have such a wonderful country but a very few are here, especially with passion.
