He’s just a beauty I pass on the way to the ranch so this time I stopped to get some shots…....there’s actually about 40 horses in this very large pasture….....I believe they are used for trail rides and I think this big boy is a pack horse…..........Have a lovely day my gorgeous friend…............xoxo

Oh, great capture of a noble-looking fellow Rose – is he maybe an American Spotted Draft? The breed name is isleading, comes from the old days when they referred to PINTOS as spotted horses, before they understood genetics, and realised pinto is caused by lack of colour pigment rather than a spotting gene.

Thanks so much for your insightful comment….......I’m actually not sure of the exact breed….....the horses on this ranch are mainly used as pack horses for lengthy trail rides….........sometimes going for days and weeks into the mountains…..............
so tell me, is a pinto not considered a ‘spotted horse’?
