Great action shot, and it’s lovely to see a jumper with so little gear in its mouth or attached to its head – obviously well schooled, and happy in its work! Lovely capture of soft hands too…
Very nice! I find it hard to evaluate the art of equine shots – I’m too intent on the technical aspects of the subject/action., but this is a very nice shot. To answer David’s question above, the ‘straps’ you can see on the horse’s legs are protective boots to shield the delicate tendons at the rear of the leg from injury if the horse’s hind legs were to strike them (or ‘run down’ them). You’ll also see, a big leather shield under the horse’s belly… this is a stud guard which protects the belly from injury from forelegs (which have stud in the shoes for additional grip) and also in the event of landing (bellyflopping) on a bar. He’s a very happy, willing horse, being ridden with soft hands (note the little bit of slack in the rein). He has superbly high clearance in his forelegs, is being ridden in a snaffle with only a cavesson noseband and without a martingale. Yes, a well schooled horse indeed… and that folks is what it’s all about!

Wow, what a magnificent action shot.
Tell me something Rosie Posie, what’s those straps round the horses legs for?
