I shot the emergent thistle flower on a restored prairie managed by the Kane County Forest Preserve District near my home in Elgin, Illinois. I was looking specifically for emerging flowers this day, buds just beginning to open. This backlit scene jumped out at me so, naturally, set my tripod down, framed and focused and shot.
I processed the image with Detail 3 from Topaz Labs to produce this image
