The Illinois Railway Museum in Union, Illinois is one of my favorite locations in the Western Suburbs of Chicago. The museum, staffed entirely by volunteers, works to restore old, unwanted trains from past eras. Anything from steam switching engines to streamline diesel engines from the 1960’s along with passenger cars and freight cars are available for viewing. I love to come here to shoot, especially early in the Spring when the place is nearly deserted. This image was made processing a raw file with Photomatix Pro 5 producing this hdr photograph.

Images are available in matted, framed, canvas or mounted formats as well as greeting cards and posters at truly extraordinary pricing. Just click the Prints, Posters or Cards tab to explore all the formats available. The sample below is a framed print with a walnut frame and a black matte.

I am retired from years as both a middle-school teacher and college professor in education. My interest in photography began at age 13 when the magic of image making became visible to me as I processed my first roll of film in a darkroom lit by a dim red bulb. Over the years I learned to see beauty in the mundane. I currently shoot with Canon digital cameras and process mostly using HDR techniques allowing me to re-present what I saw.
