I shot this image of a mesquite tree in the Tonto National Forest North of Cave Creek, Arizona. I converted the image to the monochrome image using Photomatix Pro 5. I am fascinated at the adaptations desert plants make in order to insure their survival in the harsh conditions they face. The trees tend to be short, leaves tend to be small in order to conserve precious water. What an amazing world.
