I began by doing a quick sketch of the three flowers in this piece and then completely drew a blank as to how to proceed from that point. I revisited the piece the next evening and decided I was just going to grab the brush and go for it. The piece is painted with Winsor & Newton and Rublev 18th century reproduction watercolor paints on Arches 140# cold-pressed paper. The interaction between this particular paint and paper really creates some interesting textures and brush strokes.

Featured in Painter’s Universe group in January 2011.

I am a still-life and floral watercolor artist based in the Tacoma, Washington USA area. My work can be found in collections throughout the world as well as on the set of ABC Studio’s television series, “Desperate Housewives.”

Sometimes, Ken, it’s just so much fun to paint with wild abandon! I like this….it’s such a warm & cheery piece. Doesn’t it make a lovely greeting card??!!

  • Thank you Marsha! That does make a nice card!
