This is a quickly and loosely rendered dahlia flower from a near-by botanical garden. My intention was to squeeze one last piece in before 2010 ends and the holiday festivities slow creative pursuits. The original is 10″×7″ in size and is painted with Rublev 18th century watercolor paints on Arches 140# cold-pressed paper.
Another fine job, Ken. I really, really love the center of this & how you gave the overall flower a soft creamy glow. Your floral series has been a real delight!
Thank you Marsha! That is very nice of you to say!
for just squeezing one in this is fabulous Ken…lovely watercolour of a pretty flower…Merry Christmas!
Thanks Linda! That is very nice of you to say. I have really cool one planned for the new year and I am going to do it as a 1/2 sheet size just for kicks! Have a happy holiday!

It may have been quickly done Ken, but it is wonderfully done too. Stunning against the muted background. See you in 2011!
Thank Ian! Here’s to an extra creative 2011!!

Very impressive piece of work, Ken. The contrast is fantastic and the shadows on each petal is beautifully handles.
Thank you very much! I was glad to get one more done before the holidays. I probably won’t get back to painting before the New Year.
