I chose this particular flower because I wanted to paint something that used Autumn colors but still stuck with my floral series theme. I was going for a composition that wasn’t really a composition and tried to really just jam the flowers together. There is no real main subject in the piece and it can come across as very “busy.” But, that is exactly what I was going for and some viewers are going to love this one and some are going to hate it! My wife thinks it is one of her favorites in my series. The original is 13.5″×10″ in size and is painted with Winsor & Newton watercolor paint and Rublev 18th century reproduction watercolor paint on Arches 140# paper. The coarse character of this paper really helps lend texture to areas of the painting that demand it.
