My neighbor absolutely hates these and they grow like weeds around all of our properties. However, I once saw someone on a television gardening show intentionally plant “Morning Glory” in their front yard using a trellis. I think they have a nice aroma so I am not too concerned about their voracious growth. This piece is painted with Rublev 18th century reproduction watercolor paint and Daniel Smith watercolor paint. The original is 14″×10.25″ in size and is painted on Arches 140# cold-pressed paper. I really like the textures that this paper and paint combination provides.
Love this! And I love morning glories, too. They’re growing wild in our yard. Love the nice pastel colors in the petals & the depth you achieved in the center of the flower.
Thanks Marsha! My neighbor wants to eradicate these from the face of the Earth. I think they have a great aroma!
These grow in my neighborhood also, but are very large and fragrent in the evening. The ones I refer to are called Moon Flowers, not morning glories. The evening fragrence is very nice. Your picture is beautiful! Very nice shading. : )
Thank Marriet! I will have to find out some more about Moon Flowers!
Superb Ken. Love the delicate petals. I know they can be a bit invasive, but I like these plants, especially the purple-flowered variety :)
Thanks Ian! I don’t really mind them myself but I have two neighbors who really hate them so I have to keep them somewhat under control. They have flowers on them all summer here and I couldn’t resist painting one.
Great work Ken – Congratulations again on the features, (and I also like the way you are doing the group link in your ‘description’ when your work has been featured).
