This is my 2nd real attempt at a floral painting and once again I am in awe at the amount of difficulty required to paint this genre. I can’t believe how difficult it is to get the really subtle details required in a flower’s petals. I am anxious to try a few more of these in order to work on my techniques. The original painting is 6.25″×10.5″ and is painted with 18th century reproduction watercolor paints on Arches 140# cold-pressed paper. This paint lends some interesting granulating characteristics that help add nice texture to the plant leaves and background of the painting.
