This is one of the very few paintings I have done from a public domain photo. I modified the subject and painted this on Arches 140# cold-pressed paper using Rublev 18th century reproduction watercolor paint. I love the way the highlights, shadows, and rust interact to give an excellent three-dimensional quality to the image. The paper and paint combination react to create interesting textures as well. The original is 5″×7″ in size.
