This passage lock is original to my 1917 home. I had painted this subject in 2006 and wanted to try it again with the new paint I have been using in order to see how it would improve. I can’t decide which I like better but I did paint this with an increased contrast and greater attention to the shadows. It is painted with Rublev 18th century reproduction watercolor paint on Arches 140# cold-pressed paper. The combination of the Arches paper and Rublev paint add impressive granulation effects that add interesting textures to the piece. The original piece is 5″×7″ in size.
