Corroded Trumpet Pistons by

It is not a rare instance to have corroded trumpet pistons cross my bench. These belong to a local trumpet player named Lance Buller. I have repeatedly told him to get them replated but he can’t be without the horn for long. I have loosely painted these with Rublev 18th century watercolor paint on Arches 140# cold-pressed paper. The rough paper and large pigmented paint create very interesting textures in this piece. The original is 7″×5″ in size.

Featured in Brass Instruments group in February 2010.
