Locked in an Embrace

I painted this as a tribute to Valentine’s day. I thought I would add a twist. This is essentially an upside down heart. The locks are attached to each other in what I am portraying as a loving embrace. The keys to the success of their relationship are readily accessible and visible to all. It is painted with Rublev 18th century reproduction watercolor paint on Arches 140# cold-pressed paper. The textures of this amazing paper accentuate the heavy granulation characteristics of the paint in interesting ways. The original piece is 7”x5” in size.
